Data By Political Party

Number of Individual Contributions By Party

The pie chart above synthesizes a complex data set of contributions by party. The share of individual contributions is divided by party so that individual involvement can be measured. Overall, the Democratic party has more donors and donations on average than the Republican party. Although it is difficult to speculate the individual reasons for donations, not to mention individual affiliations with one party over the other, the 9% difference is notable as this page explores political affiliations in relation to donor habits.

State Political Party Affiliations As of 2022 Election Cycle

This visualization shows the political party affiliations of each state according to the 2020 election cycle. This map can be compared with the similar United States outline on the "Data By Contributions" page. We believed this visualization was important to show on this website because it represents the important contrast between state lines and party divisions. For example, the popular vote of the west coast and Northeast represents Democratic party affiliations, whereas the red coloring and Republican voting and donations of the Midwest and South represent affiliations with the Republican party.
